At the information desk one can access the national and international interlibrary loan services, and request photocopies of articles from serials, indexes or parts of books that are unavailable locally.

Members can use the following on-line services:

Interlibrary loan - Users requests

ILL is guaranteed to all registered members of the loan service in the municipal libraries of Mantova. One can order up to three documents per reader.

An agreement allows us to process requests to libraries in the provinces of Mantova, Brescia and Cremona free of charge.
Other libraries may request a fee for interlibrary loan (see Library rates).

Requests can be cancelled only if they haven't been transmitted to the lending library. Before processing an information request, the library will contact patrons if the acquisition of additional information or agreements is required. The library will notify patrons via SMS or e-mail upon receipt of requested documents.

The reader must respect any conditions or restrictions and must promptly reimburse expenses charged by the lending library. The reader is personally responsible for any loss or damage to the publications borrowed.

Violation of the terms of this agreement will result in suspension of the interlibrary loan privileges.

Interlibrary loan for Libraries

Only participating libraries can make ILL requests of other libraries. Patrons’ requests for ILL can be forwarded by e-mail (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), fax (03762738060) or postal service.

The loan period is thirty days from the arrival date, up to a maximum of three documents per request.

The requesting library is responsible for the loaned document: in case of loss and damage caused by the travel or the reader’s use, the library will be subject to the same rules of the local loan.

A fee of € 4,00 payable by postal account, bank transfer or IFLA vouchers for each shipment is required to cover postage.

Generally the following items are excluded from the interlibrary loan: multimedia works, periodicals, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, theses and other reference works, works published prior to 1960, ancient or rare items, and works in poor condition.
